Here are some of the BIG THINGS we are creating at Ela Mesma Company!
1: If you prefer listening over reading… find out a bit more about what I have been up to the past few months in this interview (filmed on International Women’s day in NYC interviewing with Anna Demming (of SWDT) for Ujima FM!) This video premiered this morning at 11am so be the first to watch it HERE 3: We got Arts Council Funding! It took us a LOT of NOs… but we wouldn’t take no for an answer and it has been a JOY to create now: in fact… this feels like some very divine timing! We spent a week at Open Source Arts, a week at Yorkshire Dance and finish with a week down in London at The Place and it feels MEGA exciting! 4: Then on Monday, I fly to Italy to work on the next phase of ‘Okan’ with Akeim Toussaint under our new company name Maya & Toussaint. Produced by The Place and with support from British Council, we have been invited to a festival in Italy, up in the mountains by a castle and the sea near Tuscany! You can imagine the excitement… I am actually jumping up and down on my bed with JOY right now! We will be having a week of space there and then a small intimate sharing at the end of the week. I am super excited for this blessing! 5: Then, when I get back from Italy, I will be choreographing for a WHOLE MONTH in London town! I have not been there this much in years and years and years! So watch this space… and if there are exciting invites to things I must see and places to be… let me know!
