When I stepped into the River Osün
The tears flowed
And didn’t stop for a week
Like tidalick my tears flooded
A small tree grew
The Earth shook
I was grieving not just for me
But my Mamãe, abuela, cousin, humxnkind
Maybe my skin does not show my ancestry
But my pores speak of a sadness
A rape, a pillage, a murder so invasive
That every cell cried
Released
Grieved
Wept
There at the River Osün
