I hope this blogpost finds you well, in spite of these difficult times. If you are an artist, Emma & I would love to invite you to an event where we will set intentions & mobilise with a synergy exercise to see how we might assemble collectively as artists.❤️💚🖤🍉 For the Newcastle (and Gateshead) massive, I am back in the Toon, and grateful to be performing this weekend. For the first time, we are bringing The Rainbow Butterfly: an interactive family adventure all the way to the moon to Dance City. If you are in town, I would love to see you (& your children) for this immersive experience that blends traditional storytelling with aerial circus, graceful contortion & dynamic contemporary & Hip Hop dance, perfect for ages 3 & above. You can book HERE 🌈 🦋 We will also be bringing the show to Bournemouth in July (Joana Dias will be back playing Maja: wahoo!) for Pride with PDSW, & to GDIF in Stratford Park, London in August (most likely both Joana & I will perform over two days)… find out more HERE Meanwhile, we are super excited to be creating a new show (A Jellyfish Lovesong) for families… last month we were in Bournemouth for the first week (working with an absolute superhero team!) & next month we will be at The Place for week two: if you are a programmer, let me know if you would like to come to our sharing on Friday 28th June. A Jellyfish Lovesong is a dance-show for children and their families inspired by Laurie Newman’s book Jessie The Jellyfish, to celebrate the magic and wonder of the ocean and explore what we humans can do to look after our planet.
The show combines music, lights, singing, puppetry, lots of dance, and tidying up the sea, and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with Holly Miller to create a set made entirely using recycled materials: I can’t wait for you to see it! I have an exciting competition as part of this year’s Embodied Alchemy (which opens on the 21st June).
Meanwhile, calling all artists! Emma Houston and I would love to invite you to join us on Tuesday.
Sending all my love, Ella & Team Maja (The Rainbow Butterfly team) |
